TRAVELLING AROUND ASIA, EGYPT, AND BEYOND
Have an adventurous spirit and love to travel? Teaching overseas is right for you!
Teaching in a Manitoba affiliated school overseas affords teachers the opportunity to experience working and living in another country, and at the same time embracing another culture. Lots of holidays provide many opportunities for teachers to travel to other destinations, learn new languages, meet interesting people and see incredible places.
For teachers at Heritage International School in Cairo, Europe is at their doorstep. Teachers travel everywhere in Europe as it is inexpensive to get to these countries. The resorts of the Red Sea, destinations in Africa and the Middle East, as well as such destinations as India become the holiday venues of choice.
For teachers teaching at Clifford School in South China and Beijing, popular holiday destinations include Hong Kong, the sights of Beijing, and the Great Wall, the Terracotta Warriors (Shaanxi Province), Shanghai, Tibet, Nepal, and Mongolia. Teachers love travelling to Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Malaysia, and some get over to Australia.

HEC will make all of your initial travel arrangements to get to your destination (Egypt and China) and schools.

TRAVEL TIPS
Prepare for your stay in the country that you will be teaching in by doing some reading about that country, its' civilization, history, and culture. The more you are aware, the better you will adjust.
It is important to adapt to the culture of the country you are teaching in.
You do not need to know the language of the country you will be teaching in. English will be sufficient for you to work and travel. It is a good idea to learn some basic words such as "please," "thank you," "hello," "goodbye," etc. Your attempt will be appreciated.
Credit cards are not as widely used as in North America. Make sure to carry cash.
Attitude is everything when adjusting to a new country and a new culture. Be flexible, try to adapt easily, and accept that things are not like they are at home.
